World Peace Project
In 1978, Maharishi was concerned that various world governments that were having problems were not using the Technology of the Unified Field. He decided to send groups of Yogic Flyers to five trouble spots around the world. As predicted, over the 10-week life of the project, each of these trouble spots saw a marked decrease in hostilities and a marked increase in cooperation. Of the 1,400 TM-Sidhas that participated, many have remarkable stories to tell.
Hopping with Maharishi
By Frank Lotz, Germany
This is about The Yogic Flying technique and how I brought Maharishi-ji into the “air!”
In the early Summer of 1978, Maharishi inaugurated a demonstration campaign to show The 1% Effect in action. In every country, an area was selected where the Governors (TM Teachers) of that country would converge and initiate as many people as possible into TM so that the crime rate would fall, all negative aspects in Society would dramatically drop, and positivity would rise.
In Germany, the city-state of Hamburg was selected. After much success, the project ended in October. Afterward, Maharishi called 20 German TM Teachers from that project.
Every day for the next two weeks this group, including me, had a private meeting with Maharishi in the Golden Room of Seelisberg for about 2 to 3 hours. He was preparing us to go to Thailand on the Cambodian border to save Thailand from the Khmer Rouge Army. The Khmer Rouge had a secret plan to occupy Thailand and destroy their old and beautiful culture.
During those meetings, many plans were made and problems were wrestled with. One of these problems was there would be no foam to hop on during our yogic flying program. Maharishi asked us how we would handle it.
A German guy designed a piece of foam with belts that would keep it strapped to the body so we could “hop” with it. After a few days, Maharishi wanted to see the progress. Unfortunately, as the guy was trying to put it on, the belts came loose, and it did not work.
Then I asked Maharishi if I could show him my simple idea and he agreed. I laid out a small piece of foam with a sheet underneath. Then I sat in a half Lotus position on the foam and knotted the ends of the sheet over my legs.
I asked Maharishi, “Would you like to see how it works?”
Maharishi replied, “Yes, yes.”
I closed my eyes, started the sutra, and made some hops. But because the wood parquet floor was very springy, whenever I went down, Maharishi came up from his couch. After I had done it a few times, his secretary Nandikishor gave me an angry look.
I asked Maharishi, “Shall I stop?”
He said, “No, no. Continue. It is very funny.”
After a few minutes of this alternate bouncing, Maharishi said, “Now it is enough.”
Then he said, “This (how I arranged it) looks very Indian-like, and that with the belts looks very German-like. Now, whether it works it is a different thing!”
And together we all had a big laugh.
So I will never forget the times I brought Maharishi up in the air whenever I went down because of the springy parquet floor.
Later I asked Maharishi “Maybe one day we will not need foam to hop on anymore but instead, we will levitate!”
Maharishi answered, “One day you will go to the post office and ask where you want to go and right away you are there!”
This was my event with our Master.
